First South Yorkshire Monthly Meet – The Hayfield 18th March 2009

To say the evening was a little damp and at the time, dark at six o’clock, our first monthly meet at The Hayfield near Doncaster was well attended with 17 members arriving on time and mostly on bikes...well done and thankyou.

The evening went very well with good chat and various tasty Italian breads going round – and in fact the food is excellent at the pub, primarily Italian but there is steak and the odd chip butty also available; moreover they have very good wine too!

For those that don’t know, the pub is set in pleasant countryside, with an outside patio and tables and adjoining fishing lakes, also good tarmac parking.

Every third Wednesday of the month is ideal for our monthly meets in the South Yorkshire area, and with another area meeting point being set up with Paul and Lyn King at The Hartwood Hall Hotel, Chorley, we now have four different monthly meet venues – something to suit everyone.

With lighter nights and longer days now here, we have plans for summer rides of approximately an hour starting at 7.30pm from The Hayfield, the first one kindly hosted by John Godley on Wednesday 20th May – returning to the pub around 8.30pm gives members time for a quick pizza etc before departing for home. Hopefully you will see a different side of South Yorkshire, this largest county in England has plenty of hidden pockets of beauty to enjoy!

Reg and I will host the 17th June Wednesday night ride out – again 7.30pm from The Hayfield and either returning for food in the pub or a fish ‘n’ chip supper whilst out on the ride; keep checking the new very attractive Northern Pan Rider web site (thanks to G.W.) for information on future rides and events anywhere in the club, but if you live in or near Doncaster then do drop in to see us...there is no excuse as you now have a meeting place near you!

Best Wishes – Wendy Threlkeld.
