Northern Christmas Dinner.Twas the 12th of December when twenty-two misfits whoops! Members joined together at the Dun Cow for a night to remember. The event was organised by the one and only Elizabeth Place our Mrs. Fix it. She’s a gem! We all congregated in the dinning room to find we had been split onto two tables much to our dismay BAH HUMBUG but with The food came and was consumed with gusto. Richard Ellis asking where the entertainment was looked a little forlorn as I told him we were the entertainment. Once the desserts were over I started the Christmas Carols off, to my surprise everyone joined in (They were supplied with carol sheets) which was a good thing as I am tone deaf. As usual the wrong words were sung, People laughed and cried…. The real party had begun. Much frivolity as I asked everyone to put their hands between their legs, to look for a piece of paper under their chair. The lucky/unlucky winners were Yvonne Carruthers, Anne Ellis and Kathryn (Roy’s partner, sorry Kathryn don’t know your surname) who were given prezzies. Lisa Gray had a surprise for us – pass the parcel! Not just any pass the parcel but animal pass the parcel, to see Alex Hargreaves hopping around the dance floor and making noises was a real treat. Terry Hall under the table at the same time Richard Ellis on top of the table (complete with drinks) on all fours Ann Hargreaves played Santa and everyone received a gift, which were thrown, handed, passed, whichever was easiest. Five hours of fun and laughter with twenty-two members, some of who were strangers, becoming firm friends. How we are going to top that next year, I’ll never know… just watch this space.
